In September 2024, Supertouch Kindness Foundation (SKF) took another bold step toward inclusive health rights by hosting a transformative two-day workshop in Mubi North, Adamawa State — dedicated to empowering women and girls with disabilities to become confident advocates for their Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) rights.
This wasn’t just a training — it was a movement of voices rising together, breaking through the silence of stigma, neglect, and discrimination.
From Silence to Strength
Over 45 participants gathered to share personal journeys and equip themselves with tools to demand access, respect, and justice. Their stories were powerful. Like Saratu Sani, who had once been told her disability meant she couldn’t be a mother. Or Grace Gayus, who found a creative way to manage her menstrual hygiene despite overwhelming odds.
“This training has taught us to stand up for our rights and challenge the barriers we face every day.”
— Ummulkhairi Yakubu, who lost her legs during the insurgency but found renewed strength during the workshop
Learning, Planning, and Owning the Future
The participants didn’t just listen — they engaged, created, and led. Through group activities and guided sessions, each woman:
- Built a personal advocacy plan
- Practiced effective communication techniques
- Joined hands to form peer networks for collective action
By the end of the workshop, 100% of the attendees had developed clear, actionable strategies to advocate for SRH rights in their communities.
Changing Systems, Not Just Stories
The call for inclusive policies grew louder as the workshop concluded — with renewed demands for:
- Disability-friendly healthcare facilities
- Ongoing awareness campaigns
- Accessible information and support services

SKF, with the support of its partners, is turning these voices into action — ensuring no woman or girl is left behind in accessing the health services and dignity she deserves.
Because Every Voice Matters
When women and girls with disabilities are given the tools to advocate for themselves, they don’t just change their lives — they change their communities. At SKF, we believe that self-advocacy is a superpower, and we’re proud to walk alongside these champions of resilience.
