Championing Inclusion: SKF Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024

Each year, the world comes together on December 3rd to recognize and celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) — a day to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society.

At Supertouch Kindness Foundation (SKF), this day is more than a global observance — it’s a reflection of our mission. In 2024, SKF proudly commemorated IDPD across Michika, Mubi North, and Hong LGAs in Adamawa State, in collaboration with Royal Heritage Health Foundation (RHHF).

Honoring Resilience, Driving Change

Our IDPD celebrations were centered around recognizing the resilience and contributions of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) while raising awareness on gender-based violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health (SRH), and economic empowerment. With over 200 participants, the event featured:

As the District Head of Michika aptly said, “This initiative reminds us that every individual, regardless of ability, has a role to play in our community.”

Real People, Real Impact

From Saratu Sani, who overcame discrimination surrounding reproductive health, to Ummulkhairi Yakubu, who found her voice after surviving insurgency, this day reminded us of the importance of creating inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive. These voices are the heart of SKF’s mission — to ensure that no woman or girl is left behind.

A Call to Continue the Work

IDPD is a moment of celebration — but also a call to action. At SKF, we continue to push for:

Together with our partners, donors, and grassroots communities, we are building a world where inclusion is not a privilege, but a right.

Join Us

Let this day inspire us all to be advocates of empathy, accessibility, and equity. Because when we touch lives with kindness, we unlock the full potential of every person — regardless of ability.
